The Honda Activa is still the most selling scooter in the country, while every manufacturer has tried to challenge the Activa, Suzuki took a different route by introducing a more powerful scooter in 2007, the Suzuki Access. Honda took its own sweet time to realize that the riders preferred more from their daily commutes and introduced the Activa 125. Honda took the Activa, planted a bigger engine, tweaked the suspension and changed the styling a bit, and the Activa 125 was born. Now that Suzuki has introduced a refreshed access, it is time for a Suzuki Access vs Honda Activa showdown. Suzuki may have made some minor changes to the Access, these changes make the Access more appealing than before. The Access now gets a new oval shaped headlamp with chrome surrounds, a new tail lamp and clear lens indicators on the front apron. The Activa 125 is not a slouch either, the design still looks fresh, the front apron has the right amount of chrome, the headlamp is chunky and overall it is a more mature design aimed at people with neutral tastes. Coming to the specifications, the Access 125 is powered by the same 124cc engine producing 8.58 bhp of power and 10.2Nm of torque. The Activa 125 features a 124.9cc motor that makes 8.6 bhp of power and 10.12Nm of torque. Both the scooters are mated to a CVT gearbox. Out on the road, it’s the Access that feels livelier of the two, the lower kerb weight makes the scooter peppier at lower speeds where the Activa feels a bit sluggish to begin with. Both the scooters have no problem crossing the 90km/hr mark, with the Access feeling more relaxed than the Activa. The Activa scores on the ride quality, the suspension feels softer than the Access, the Access has a stiffer suspension meaning the road undulations are transferred directly to your spine. In the end, it comes down to your own personal preference, the Access feels peppier whereas the ride quality is where the Activa scores its points. The Activa feels more comfortable to ride, which is what you expect from a gearless scooter. Our pick for the Suzuki Access vs Honda Activa comparison will go to the Activa reason being the ride quality and Honda’s bulletproof reliability.
